Message to Love Isle of Wight Festival 1970 | June 21 | 7pm  |  137 + Mins | Venue - Bilton Club on Skipton Road

In August 1970 600,000 fans flocked to the Isle of Wight to witness the third and final festival to be held on the island. Besides the music, they also got a look at the greed, cynicism and corruption that would plague the music industry for years to come. They also witnessed the final, drugged out performance of Jimi Hendrix in England just two weeks before he would meet a tragic death. When it all was over, the fans view of rock and roll was never the same.

This is a 'warts and all' depiction of what can go wrong, and did go wrong, as well as a showcase for some of the greatest acts of the 70s. A better line up, by far, than Woodstock.

Each movie will be introduced by Harrogate author and broadcaster, Derek Shelmerdine. He will set the scene for the film and provide insight into the background. Derek is the author of Rock'n'Roll Unravelled, which tells the story of rock'n'roll from its roots to late 70's punk.

Places are limited to 80 for this initial event so we can assess capacity and ensure a great viewing experience for everyone.  Book your tickets here on our website, at any of our events or on the door (if you dare risk not booking).

Tickets will be available to HFS members, their guests and the general public on a first come, first served basis.

(FYI, it is possible to become a member of Bilton Club.  Please note, this is completely unrelated to HFS membership. Please check out their website for more details. There are several benefits to being a member, including discounted drinks and Club event tickets which are up to 50% cheaper, along with several trips and social events each year. )   https://biltonwmc.co.uk
