About the Event
The Blue Caftan (12) | Dir. Maryam Touzani | 2022 | Morocco/France | IMDb 7.6 | 122 mins | Subtitles
Halim and Mina run a traditional caftan store in one of Morocco's oldest medinas. To keep up with demanding customers, they hire a talented young man as an apprentice. Slowly Mina realises how much her husband is moved by his presence.
A tender film with beautiful performances- about love, in all its nuances. A tailor and his wife working in a Moroccan medina, struggling to keep up with demand, employ a young apprentice and their three lives become inextricably entwined. When illness challenges them, the characters must evolve and they do so with acceptance, grace and ultimately hope. A sensitive and powerful portrayal of the complexities of the human heart.
