Part of Harrogate Cenotaph's Centenary Commemoration Event.

ONE TOWN AND ITS TERRITORIALS: Fraser Skirrow, author of ‘Massacre on the Marne’ – the History of the 2/5th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment. This talk focuses on the ordinary men of Harrogate who made up its Territorial Battalions. It uses letters, newspapers and military records to tell the story of who they were and relate their experience of the war, at home and in France, and the fighting in which many of them died.
